Amidst the recent surfeit of cancer related publications the second edition of Genitourinary Cancer Surgery stands out distinctively. Edited by distinguished au­thors E. David Crawford and Sakti Das this important reference tome has many note­worthy features. All crucial areas related to genitourinary malignancies are succinctly addressed by experienced authors. These include relevant anatomy, molecular biol­ogy, pathology, diagnostic imaging, surgery and chemo and immunotherapy. Detailed chapters on different malignancies are often preceded by excellent overviews. One outstanding feature of this compendium is the detailed description of surgical tech­niques. The accompanying illustrations, especially the line drawings, are explicit and amplify the text. The bibliographies appending the chapters are exhaustive and offer access to important current references.

I have no doubt that the perusal of this major textbook of reference would help one to conceptualize strategies in the realm of management of genitourinary malignancies. The fact there are some Indian contributors to this volume of import should gladden many native hearts.
